Thank you to everyone who volunteered and voted for me and the New Democrat team in the 2008 general federal election.
It has been a great honour to represent New Democrats in North Vancouver and to have the right to speak my mind freely. It has been my great pleasure to stand up for arts and culture- we won; the censorship provisions of Bill C-10 have been withdrawn. The Minister of Heritage will not have the power to arbitrarily decide what is Official Canadian Culture- the people will retain the right to free speech. We did nothing that we needed to apologize for and we kept the level of debate high.
I am very proud of what we accomplished; we did the best we could with what we had to work with. I appreciate the wise council I received from our Campaign Manager, Official Agent and Election Planning Committee and I am very thankful for the volunteer assistance during the past five weeks.
New Democrats will continue to fight for Peace, Order and Good Government; the priorities of the kitchen table instead of the boardroom table. Another minority government- I guess we'll see you some time soon. With much love-
